Ella Collins Stanfill Lanius, age 83, a resident of Chapel Hill, previously of Mt. Joy Road in Mt. Pleasant, passed away Monday morning, September 23, 2019.
A service for Ella will be held on Thursday, September 26, 2019 at 11AM at Heritage Funeral Home with Pastor William Owens officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. A visitation will also be held on Thursday from 10 - 11 AM at Heritage Funeral Home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Born on August 24, 1936 in Maury County, Ella was the daughter of the late James Alford Collins and the late Nora M. Scroggins Collins. She previously worked for Weather Tamer and retired as a home health nurse for Elk Valley Home Health. Ella enjoyed genealogy and had a special place in her heart for her precious dogs and cats. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant Freewill Baptist Church.
She is survived by her children: Cathy Diane Long of Chapel Hill, Tommy (Rhonda) Stanfill of Columbia, David Stanfill of Columbia, Carl (Sherry) Lanius of Columbia, Phyllis (Terry) Gilbert of Giles County; daughter in law: Michele Lanius of Mt. Pleasant; grandchildren: Casey Long, Rachel Long, Johnathan (Sheena) Stanfill, Rebecca Prince, Tommy Michael (Megan) Stanfill, Cassie (Tony) Couch, Will (Britta) Lanius, Wyatt Lanius, Lane Gilbert, Michael Gilbert, Amy (Michael) Nave, Nicole (Jason) Llewellyn, Carla Mayberry; eighteen great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; special nephew, Larry (Shirley) Collins; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, William Henry Stanfill and James Lanius; daughter, Diane Loudermilk; son, James Wayne Lanius; son in law, Bob Long; and daughter in law, Beth Stanfill.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Hospice Compassus and NHC Maury Regional Transitional Care Center for their care and compassion during this time.
Her son, David Stanfill, will serve as pallbearer.
