Elma Ree Overstreet, age 93, a resident of Columbia, passed away Saturday morning, October 15, 2022, at Poplar Estates.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 27, 2022, at 10:00 AM at Polk Memorial Gardens. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Born on July 5, 1929, in Giles County, Elma was the daughter of the late E.T. Cummins and the late Ruby Sneed Cummins. She was married to Charles “Myron” Overstreet for thirty-nine years before his passing in 1984. She retired from Southern Athletic Fields where she worked as a bookkeeper. She also previously worked for Tennessee Tire and Turner & Osborne. Elma enjoyed fishing, watching football, and was very fond of her beloved poodle, Muffet. She was a member of Highland Church of Christ.
She is survived by her daughter, Charlene (Don) Renfro, grandchildren, Scott (Rachel) Renfro, Kristy (Jeremy) Wiley, great grandchildren, Caden Renfro and Peyton Renfro, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Dorris Lindsey.
