Mr. Elton Conrad Mitchell, age 79, husband of Patrica Mitchell, and a resident of Santa Fe, passed away Monday evening, June 15, 2020 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 18, 2020 at 1:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Bro. Anthony Muston officiating. Burial will follow in Knob Creek Cemetery with military honors provided by the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 17, 2020 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM and again on Thursday from 12:00 – 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Born on May 3, 1941 in Fisher, Louisiana, Elton was the son of the late Arvel EC Mitchell and the late Lois Collins Mitchell. He served his country in the United States Army. He married Patrica Pope on June 21, 1962 and together they had four children. He and his wife owned Snow Creek Mercantile for thirty-five years. Elton was an ordained minister and a member of Knob Creek Baptist Church. He often enjoyed gardening, collecting coins, and watching his grandkids play ball. Above all, he loved his family and will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons: Craig (Lori) Mitchell of Murfreesboro, Clint (Laura) Mitchell of Murfreesboro, Curtis Mitchell of Murfreesboro; daughter, Connie (Mike) Coker of Santa Fe; sisters: Barbara Lavonne Davis of Louisiana, Linda Montrose of Louisiana, Velora Guess of Louisiana; grandchildren: Clayton Mitchell, David (Tori) Mitchell, Mariah (Matt) Drufke, Haley (Jared) Bacile, Paxton (Kaitlyn) Mitchell, Peyton (Gabby) Mitchell, Grant Warf, Connor Mitchell; and great grandchildren: Natalie Mitchell and Braelyn Drufke.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers: Jerome Mitchell, William Mitchell; and sister, Carolyn Langton.
Pallbearers will be: Clayton Mitchell, David Mitchell, Paxton Mitchell, Peyton Mitchell, Grant Warf, Connor Mitchell, Matt Drufke, and Jared Bacile.
