Born on November 23, 1938, in Maury County, Tennessee, Jean was the daughter of the late Luther Mac Parrish and the late Thelma Martin Parrish. She married Charles Edward Chumley on June 17, 1958, and together they spent sixty-five wonderful years. She worked many years at Piggly Wiggly and Giant Foods and later worked at Edwin B Raskin Company in Nashville.

Renowned for her musical talents, Jean played the piano, organ, and accordion. Over the years she played for the Marie Cox Dance Studio, volunteered her musical talents at several nursing homes, and played for numerous weddings in Maury County churches. She and her husband were devoted members of Blue Springs Freewill Baptist Church for sixty-five years, where she served as the organist and pianist.

Beyond her skilled musical abilities, Jean expressed her artistic side through oil painting and arts and crafts. She enjoyed canning vegetables and will always be remembered for her thoughtfully timed card giving. Above all, she loved her family and will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.

Along with her husband, she is survived by her children, Martin Edward “Eddy” (Janet) Chumley of Lewisburg, Cindy (Danny) Auville of Culleoka, sisters, Margaret Vaughn of Santa Fe, Barbara Edwards of Santa Fe, grandchildren, Megan (Kenneth) Jolley, Katherine (Jamie) Ring, Jeannie (Austin) Seaborn, Madeline Chumley, Samantha Chumley, great grandchildren, Jase Ring, Tate Ring, Sadie Ring, and Ridge Seaborn, and several nieces and nephews.
