Erma was born on February 4, 1957, in Breckenridge, Texas, the daughter of the late Willy Wally Sanders and the late Lula Montez Sanders. Erma was known for her strong work ethic and servant's heart, but she also had a playful spirit, often enjoying pranks. She was generous, regularly supporting various charities. Above all, Erma cherished her family, finding joy in taking her children and grandchildren trick-or-treating and preparing her famous white beans, fried potatoes, and duck soup. She will be deeply missed.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Nina Bishop, and brother, Buddy Sanders.
