Ernestine Dodd King

Ernestine Dodd King, age 79, a resident of Columbia, passed away Wednesday, September 8, 2021, at NHC Columbia.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 11, 2021, at 11:00 AM at Heritage Funeral Home with Rick Points officiating. Burial will follow in Summertown Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers. A visitation will be held on Friday, September 10, 2021, from 4:00 – 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on January 20, 1942, in Lewis County, Ernestine was the daughter of the late Clarence Dodd and the late Cleo Williams Dodd. She worked fourteen years for Tuscarora Factory in Lewisburg. She enjoyed shopping, including yard sales and Goodwilling. Ernestine also enjoyed going to wrestling matches, working crossword puzzles, and going out to eat.  Above all, she loved her family dearly.

She is survived by her son, Billy Matlock of Columbia, daughter, Vienna (Kenneth) King of Lewisburg, brother, Tommy Dodd of Columbia, sisters, Marie Woodard of Columbia, Linda Matlock of Columbia, sisters in law, Cheryl Redd of Columbia, Wanda Conn of Lewisburg, grandchildren, Marie King, Kenny Lee King, Leslie Johnson, special niece, Tammy Woodard, and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband, Jerry King, sisters, Geraldine Dodd and Nellie Sue Dodd, and nephew, Rodney Joe Woodard.
