Essie Mae Cora Lee Humphrey Potts, age 89, a resident of Santa Fe, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at her residence.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 14, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Rick Points and Roger Humphrey officiating. Following the service, she will be buried at Johnson’s Chapel Cemetery. A visitation will also be held on Friday from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Born on July 2, 1935, in Maury County, Tennessee, Cora was the daughter of the late Dave Humphrey and the late Irma Thompson Humphrey. On December 24, 1950, she married G.C. Potts, who preceded her in death on October 13, 2010. She found joy in crocheting, taking walks, and canning. One of her cherished traditions was gathering with family each year for a reunion on the Natchez Trace.
She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Kay Potts of Santa Fe, daughter in law, Dottie Potts of Santa Fe, sister in law, Ellen Humphrey of Santa Fe, grandchildren, Cindy Potts (Waylon) Malugin of Santa Fe, Becky Potts of Santa Fe, Timmy (Virginia) Potts of Lyles, James (April) Scott, Jr. of Columbia, John Scott of Santa Fe, great grandchildren, Jacob Beaver, Lucas Potts, Brandon Tidwell, Melissa Travis, Kristen Poteete, Taylor Scott, Elizabeth Bytwerk, Sarah Bytwerk, Christian Bytwerk, Savannah Raye Scott, Kelly Scott, Britinnii Scott, Dillon Scott, and Abel Scott, great great grandchildren, Kaleb Beaver, Rayleigh Poteete, and several other great great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sons, Jerry Potts, Carl Potts, daughter, Linda Fay Potts, daughter in law, Patricia Potts, grandson, Bobby Potts, brother, Junior Humphrey, and sister, Pauline Williams.
Pallbearers will be Timmy Potts, Jacob Beaver, Lucas Potts, James Scott, John Scott, and Waylon Malugin.
