Fred Selle

October 19, 1934 — May 25, 2019

Mr. Frederick “Fred” Selle, age 84, husband of Sandra Selle, and a resident of Columbia, passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at Life Care Center.

A graveside service was held on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at 2PM at Maury Memorial Gardens. Gene Legg officiated. Military honors were provided by the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on October 19, 1934 in Davidson County, Fred was the son of the late Frederick Selle and the late Alma Curtis Selle. He was a veteran of the United States Army where he served as a Company Commander and Captain. He was a 1956 graduate from Vanderbilt University where he earned a degree in chemical engineering. Fred was the sole owner of Project Management Engineering in Columbia and a member of Faith Fellowship Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He loved farming and raising golden pheasants. Fred also enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles and traveling with his wife.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters: Laura (Brandon) Sparkman of Columbia, Martha (Joey) Peden of Columbia, Merri (Tracy) Osborne of Lewisburg, Tricia (Todd) Bill of Georgia, Cheryl (Paul) Watson of Columbia; son: Chris (Devan) Selle of Columbia; sister: Alma Selle Coats of New York; sisters-in-law: Janice (Mike) Mabry of Columbia, Sheila Byrd of Mt. Pleasant; daughter-in-law: Teal Selle of Franklin; grandchildren: Lillie Kate Peden, Noah Sparkman, Emily Sparkman, Lauren Watson, Sarah Watson, Bianca Bill, Alexa Bill, and Channing Selle; and special friends: Gene and Marilyn Legg.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his son: Curtis Marshall Selle and sister: LaNita Selle Lipsit.

Pallbearers were: Brandon Sparkman, Joey Peden, Tracy Osborne, Noah Sparkman, Mike Mabry, and Lillie Peden.
