Mr. Fred Voss, age 86, resident of Hohenwald, previously of Hampshire, passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at Lewis County Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 25, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Heritage Funeral Home with Bill Webb and Marcus Webb officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 24, 2019 from 4:00 -8:00 PM and again on Thursday from 10:00 - 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Born on March 17, 1933 in Maury County, Fred was the son of the late Bethel Maury Voss and the late Lizzie Region Voss. He married Anna Yvonne Webb on January 1, 1955 and together they had one son, Freddie Voss. Fred worked over twenty years as an equipment operator for the Tennessee Department of Transportation before retiring. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and farming. Above all, Fred loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He was of the Church of Christ faith.
He is survived by his wife, Anna Yvonne Webb Voss; son: Freddie (Susan) Voss of Hampshire; grandchildren: Brandon (Danielle) Voss, Breanna (Adam) Carden, Kelsey (Heather) Voss, Shelby Voss; and great grandchildren: Wilson Voss, Winston Voss, Rowan Voss, Sophie Voss, Parker Voss, Tillman Binkley, Beckett Carden, and Ellie Carden.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters: Grace Brown, Pauline Voss, Edith Ladd, Beatrice Johnson, Ruth Nichols; and brothers: Paul Voss, Maury Voss, Kenneth Voss, and Howard Voss.
Pallbearers will be: Norris Johnson, Rick Webb, Huey Smith, James Cox, and David Wilson.
Honorary pallbearers will include Fred’s former coworkers at the Tennessee Department of Transportation.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Tennessee Quality Care Hospice in Waynesboro, the nurses and staff at Lewis County Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, and Dr. Kamal for their care and compassion during this difficult time.
