Freddie Towns

March 5, 1947 — June 30, 2021

Mr. Freddie Towns, age 74, husband of Rosalyn Johnson Towns, and a resident of Columbia, passed away Wednesday, June 30, 2021, at his residence.

A funeral service will be held via webcast on Saturday, July 10, 2021, at 2:00 PM.  He will be laid to rest in Maury Memorial Gardens.  Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on March 5, 1947, in Birmingham, Alabama, Freddie was the son of the late Walter Lee Jr. & Mary Elizabeth Taylor Towns.  Freddie attended Miles College and joined the Air Force where he was a firefighter.  He married Rosalyn Marie Johnson on December 5, 1970.  He served as a full-time minister and elder as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses.  He was employed by General Motors and retired in 2003.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings; his brothers: Leo Taylor, Sr., Willie Lee Towns, Walter Towns III, Jerome Towns and Walter Williams; his sisters: Ethel Washington, Jeanette Dunklin, Mildred Murphy, Rosanna Davis, and Elaine Denmon.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Darticia Towns (Timothy) Lacy of Columbia, Ysha Towns (Reggie) Lacy of Spring Hill, Rylan Fredrick (Shari Marie) Towns, II of Nashville, grandchildren, Seth (Sierra) Lacy, Semone Lacy, Myles Lacy, Kyle Fredrick Towns, III, Weston Grant Towns, Imari Olivia Towns, great grandchildren, Nykaria Lacy, Elijah Lacy, Phoenix Lacy; brother, Richard (Nadia) Towns of St. Petersburg, FL, sister, Veronica Black of Diana, TX, uncle, Sammie Towns and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family and friends.
