Gail Carol Frey, age 75, resident of Columbia, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at her home.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2025, from 12:00pm until 2:00pm at Heritage Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Saturday at 2:00pm at the funeral home with Brother Stephen McCollum officiating. Burial will follow in Knob Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
Born on August 25, 1949, in Massachusetts, Gail was the daughter of the late Roy James O’Neill, II, and the late Carol Sweeney O’Neil. She graduated from Pompano Beach High School in Florida, where she met the love of her life, Thomas Frey. Together, they shared 60 wonderful years of love and companionship. She dedicated 30 years of her career as a secretary at Frey Industries before pursuing her passion for cooking as the head chef at Winn Dixie for 20 years. She was well known for her famous spaghetti and meatballs, a dish that brought joy to family and friends.
A devoted animal lover, Gail cared for and adored her four cats. Affectionately known as “Nanny,” she was one of the most selfless and caring individuals, always putting others before herself. Her greatest love was her family, whom she cherished deeply.
She is survived by her loving husband, Thomas W. Frey of Columbia; daughters, Theresa Marie Bullis of Spring Hill and Tammy (James) Parker of Stuart, FL; grandchildren, Trina Bullis, Alyssa (Edward) De’Jesus, Trisha Bullis, Krista Hinson, Ross Minimi, and Savannah Parker; great grandchildren, Anthony Bullis, Colton Hinson, Giovani De’Jesus, Sophia De’Jesus, Carson Hafner Bullis, Brixton Hafner Bullis, Isabella Shannon, and Douglas Shannon; and several nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her siblings, Sharon O’Neill, Roy O’Neill, III, Billy O’Neill, and Richard O’Neill.
Pallbearers will be Roy O’Neill, IV, Ross Minimi, David Fitzgerald, Anthony Bullis, Trina Bullis, Sean O’Neill, Mason Caves, and Lenny West.
Gail's kindness, generosity, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
