Born on August 1, 1943 in Evansville, Indiana, Gary was the son of the late Floyd Andrew “Pat” Hahn and the late Betty Ann Weil Hahn. Gary was a graduate of Francis J. Reitz High School where he played football. He was well known for the “Hahn’s hay-maker” and photos of him carrying the coach off the field after winning the state championship can be seen at the Indiana Football Hall of Fame in Richmond, Indiana. The stadium in which he played could hold 8,000-10,000 people and was packed most Friday nights to watch the Panthers play. He played football at Vanderbilt University, highlighted by an 82-yard punt return for a touch down at Neyland Stadium. He received his bachelor’s degree from Austin Peay State University. He was an incredible little league baseball coach, as well as pop warner football. His baseball teams never experienced a regular season loss.

Gary was the owner of Hahn & Associates Insurance Company and worked as a salesman for Hartford Insurance before retiring in 1984. Following his retirement, he spent the rest of his spare time hunting birds, especially quail; his boys say he was the best shot! He also raised and trained bird dogs. When asked who the best dog trainer was, his friends would say, “Gary Hahn!” He won many field trails which featured two of the state’s best bird dogs: Hahn Won Choice and Classic Crockett Jack. He loved camping with his precious wife and children no matter if it were hot or cold outside.

Gary was a Master Mason since 1965 with the Masonic Lodge #761 in Clarksville. He was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons: Clint Allyn Hahn of Franklin, Gary Floyd Hahn of Williamsport, Brock Alexander Hahn of Williamsport, Jacob Wesley (Emma) Moore of Santa Fe; daughters: Stacy Lee (Rick) Williams of Mt. Juliet, Ashley Michelle (Jesse) Yates of Columbia, Holly Ann (Chad) Moore of Columbia; brother: Gene Hahn of New Orleans, LA; sister in law: Sheryl Hahn of Arkansas; and grandchildren: Erik (Megan) Williams, Kristen Williams, Nicholas Anderson, Gabe Church, Easton Yates, and Cooper Moore.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother: Glen Allyn Hahn; and sister in law: Sandy Hahn.

Pallbearers will be: Clint Hahn, Gary Hahn, Jr., Brock Hahn, Jacob Moore, Rick Williams, and Erik Williams.

Honorary pallbearers will include: all of his brothers at the Masonic Lodge # 761 in Clarksville.
