Mr. George Layne McClendon Sr., 81, resident of Mount Pleasant, passed away Thursday, March 6, 2025 at his residence.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 12, 2025 from 2PM-3PM at Heritage Funeral Home with a service at 3PM, with Rick Points officiating. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Born May 8, 1943 in Sand Mountain, Alabama, he was the son of the late Eddie McClendon. George loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a classic car enthusiast, enjoyed collected coins and pocket knives, vacations at the mountains, and target practice. George will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his son, George (Stephanie) McClendon, Jr., sisters, Brenda (BarD) Siniard, Janice Downey, grandchildren, Tiffany (Thad) Runions, Daniel (Suzette) Wray, Alexander McClendon, Logan McClendon, Brandon McClendon, Kaitlyn (Johnny) Embler, Kaite McClendon, Christopher McClendon, great grandchildren, Kadence, Maybree, Mia, Lizzie, Ellainia, Elezabeth, Samuel, Zack, Patton, Peyton, Eric, Rose, Ruby, nephews, Glenn (Mandy) McClendon, Neil (Peggy) Brock, niece, Tammy McClendon, special friends, Jeff Wright, Fonda Potts, Geno (Jennifer) Wright, Corey (Stephanie) Prince.
In addition to his father he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lou McClendon, son, Steve McClendon, daughters, Karen Wray, Sharon Boshers, and brother, Carl McClendon.
