George Russell Miller

July 14, 1930 — October 5, 2021

Mr. George Russell Miller, age 91, a resident of Columbia, passed away Tuesday, October 5, 2021, at Maury Regional Medical Center.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 8, 2021, at 3:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Brandon Cochran officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on July 14, 1930, and raised in Carnegie, Oklahoma, George was the son of the late Lloyd E. Miller and the late Oletha Lucille Kelley Miller. He moved to California in 1952 and married Cleo Frazier on October 3, 1952. They later moved to Oklahoma in 1972, and in 1986, moved to Tennessee. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He and his son, Robert, owned and operated Miller Drywall for fifty-six years. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, working on race cars, and watching old westerns. George enjoyed watching all sports, especially Nascar, and in his younger years often enjoyed camping. Above all, he loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is survived by his son, Robert E. (Carrie) Miller of Columbia, Tennessee, daughter, Cynthia (Adron) Heavener of Carnegie, Oklahoma, sister, Marie Anderson of Clovis, California, grandchildren, Andrea (Matt) Harrison, Angela Heavener, Andrew Heavener, Bryan (Michaela) Miller, Denise (Michael) Gilliam, John Miller, and fourteen great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Cleo Miller on May 6, 2015, grandson, Anthony Heavener, and siblings, Harold Miller, Earline Whaley, Juanna Gibson, and Alice Goodman.
