Gerald David Barry Jr.

Mr. Gerald David Barry Jr., age 63, of Chapel Hill, passed away Sunday morning, April 19, 2020 at his residence.

A private memorial visitation will be held Thursday, April 23 at Heritage Funeral Home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Jerry was born March 22, 1957 in Chicago, Illinois and was the son of the late Gerald David Barry Sr., and the late Jean Griffin Barry. He was employed by General Motors for 30 years as an Autoworker and retired in 2007. Jerry was a jack of all trades, who could make and fix anything; he loved both collecting cars and working on them. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, and watching sports. A loving grandfather: he loved to play jokes and will be remembered for his sense of humor.

Jerry is survived by his wife: Joy Barry of Chapel Hill; sons: Nick (Kelly) Barry of Gallatin, Joe (Sam Chambers) Barry of Lebanon; brothers: Dennis (Laurie) Barry, Billy (Sandy) Barry; sisters: Milly (Don) Poplar, Sheryl Barbour, Jessie Eads; grandchildren: Austin Barry, Kelsey Barry, Katie Barry and Brody Chambers; and numerous nieces and nephews.
