Dan Watkins

Gerald Dan Watkins, age 80, resident of Columbia, passed away on May 29, 2023 at his residence.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 3rd at 11:00am at Heritage Funeral Home with Terry Peery officiating.  The family will visit with friends on Saturday from 10am until the 11am service.  Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Dan was born August 14, 1942, in Maury County and was the son of the late John B. Watkins and the late Frances Galloway Fly Watkins.  He was a longtime member of West Point Cumberland Presbyterian Church.  He worked as an HVAC installer and had a passion for classic cars.  He loved traveling with his family and loved his grandson.  He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Mary Tom Watkins of Columbia; daughters, Carol (Paul) Becker of Chapel Hill and Tammy (Daryl) Crain of Columbia; brother, Johnny (Jan) Watkins of Columbia; grandson, Tyler Crain of Columbia; step grandchildren, Bradley (Sarah) Becker of Manchester, Amanda Becker of Lewisburg, and Patrick (Malea) Becker of Columbia; three step great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Douglas Watkins and Charles Larry Watkins; and sister, Virginia Houser.
