Harlan Karlson, age 80, resident of Columbia and formerly of Culleoka, passed away Monday, June 22, 2020 at Walking Horse Meadows.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 2
nd
at 1:00PM at Parkway Baptist Church with Mike Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in Friendship Cemetery. The family will visit with friends on Thursday from 12-1pm at the church. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Harlan was born March 6, 1940 in Lincoln, Nebraska and was the son of the late Elmer Barnhardt Karlson and the late Dorothy May Olson. After high school graduation, he served four years with the United States Navy. He graduated from Milford Trade School in 1964 and returned to Southern Cal where he worked as a tool and die maker, eventually going to work for GM in 1973 at the Van Nuys plant. After its closure in 1992 he transferred to the Saturn plant in Spring Hill where he stayed until his retirement in 2006. He was a longtime and faithful member of Parkway Baptist Church.
He is survived by his children: Chris Karlson, Paul Karlson, Julie Ann King, and Odette (Rich) O’Neill; sister: Jane (Patrick) Donlin; grandchildren: Kylie, Kristin, and Ryan; and special friend: Okalene Russell.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sandi Karlson.
