Harold Williams

September 21, 1945 — July 24, 2021

Harold Lesley Williams was born September 21, 1945, as the first of nine children, to the late Clyde L. Williams and Thelma Wade Williams of the Theta community. He departed life on Saturday July 24, 2021.

A visitation will be held on Friday evening, July 30, 2021, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home. A private funeral service will be held at Heritage Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest in Maury Memorial Gardens. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Harold was a dedicated Christian and family man. Harold gave his life to Christ at an early age and was a Deacon at Mt. Vernon Missionary Baptist Church for many years. He was married for 57 years to his high school sweetheart Lydia Johnson Williams and to this union two sons were born: the late Harold Lesley Williams Jr. and Kevin (Dedra) Williams of Chamblee, Georgia.

Harold graduated from Carver Smith High School in Columbia, TN and served two years in the United States Army.  He retired as a supervisor from General Electric Company, where he worked for over 25 years.

In addition to his father and son, Harold was also preceded in death by five brothers: Clyde Lewis Williams, Wesley Williams, Jimmy R. Williams, Ellis Calvin Williams, and Douglas Williams.

Besides his mother, wife, and son, those left to cherish his memories are his grandchildren Jozelyn Birdsong, Columbia, TN, Jonathan Williams & Kristen Williams of Chamblee, GA; great grandchild Jaliyah Gaines of Columbia, TN; sisters JoAnn (Howard) McClellan of Sante Fe, TN, Loretta (William) Myles of Nashville TN, and Betty (Rev. Anthony) Paschall of Nashville, TN; aunt Helen Williams of Nashville, TN; brother-in-law Howard Johnson of Columbia, TN; sisters-in-law; Annette Williams of Franklin, TN, Hattie (Henry) Reed of Sun Lakes, Arizona, Thelma Chavers of Evergreen Park IL, Dollie Butler of Hope Mills, NC, Beverly (Norman) Taylor of Garner, NC, Ada Mai Williams,  Annie M. Campbell, Shirley Johnson, Melinda (Pete) Frierson, Pauline (Johnny) Thomas, and Sheila Stevenson of Columbia, TN and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.  Harold also leaves behind a host of devoted friends: Sam Shelby, The Heller Family, Anniedene Waters, Grady and Mary Canty, Mary Bellafant, Bishop and Elder Bellafant, and Mary Horton.
