Helen Horne

December 10, 1925 - July 18, 2019

Helen LaEtta Gooch Horne (Elam, Summers), age 93, a resident of Franklin, passed away Thursday, July 18, 2019 at her residence.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at 11AM at Oak Valley Baptist Church: 1161 Lewisburg Pike, Franklin, TN, with Rick Points officiating. Burial will follow in Williamson Memorial Gardens. A visitation will also be held on Tuesday from 10-11AM at the church. Heritage Funeral Home in Columbia is assisting the family with arrangements.

Helen was born to Robert and Beulah Mae Gooch on December 10, 1925 in Fowlkes, Tennessee. She was the mother of two sons, Robert Elam and the late Terry Elam. She was raised in Memphis and graduated from Blue Mountain College in Blue Mountain, Mississippi. Helen was employed at the telephone company long distance through school. She was an IRS employee for several years during school breaks, a faculty secretary to Mid America Baptist Theological Seminary in Memphis, and taught school for twenty-five years in Memphis public schools. Helen was a member of Oak Valley Baptist Church.

Survivors are her son, Robert Elam; four grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and three nieces.

In addition to her parents and son, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Horne.

Pallbearers will be: Scott Elam, Matt Elam, Brett Elam, and Robert Elam.
