Mr. Howard Alexander, age 98, long time preacher, retired from Union Carbide and resident of Fly Road in the Santa Fe community, passed away peacefully Thursday, August 10, 2023, at Maury Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday, August 14, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Bro. Gary Fewell, Bro. Brian Adkisson, and Keith Baker officiating. Burial will follow in the Santa Fe Cemetery with military honors provided by the United States Army. The family will visit with friends at the funeral home on Sunday, August 13, 2023 from 4:00 – 8:00 PM. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Born February 20, 1925 in Maury County, Tennessee, he was the son of Murry B. and Etta Mai Byrd Alexander. During WWII, Howard served in the U.S. Army. He married the love of his life, Sarah F. Miller, on July 7, 1946 and she predeceased him in 2005. This loving union was blessed with three children, Janice, David and Dennis.
Throughout his over 60 years of preaching, Bro. Howard, as he was known by many, performed numerous weddings and over 200 funerals. Bro. Howard and his wife were very much devoted to the work of the Lord. He had been at Elmore Nazarene Church and over the years had served as preacher for several congregations in the surrounding area.
Bro Howard is survived by his daughter, Janice (N.O.) Potts of Santa Fe, son, Dennis Alexander of Santa Fe; grandchildren, Shelley Potts, Sheryl Potts, Shane Alexander, Todd Alexander and Devin Alexander; great grandchildren, Ty Loague, Josh Barnhill, Hannah, Emma, Ashley and Bailey Alexander; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his son, David Alexander, brothers, Roy Alexander, Homer Alexander and Murry Alexander; and sisters, Thelma Miller, Lora Bell Hill, Lula Mai Hutcherson, Gladys Potts and Alice Tomberlin.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Shelley Potts, Sheryl Potts, Shane Alexander, Todd Alexander, Ty Loague and Josh Barnhill.
Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Chunn, Wayne Alexander and Tommy Tomberlin.
