Ed was born on May 4, 1939, in Morris Chapel, Hardin County, Tennessee and was the son of the late George Hubert Jarrett and the late Mary Magdalene Stinnett Jarrett. He was a 1957 graduate of Morris Chapel High School where he served as the Class Vice President. He sang on the radio station WORM in Savannah. While stopping at his sister’s house in Columbia when traveling to Nashville to become a singer, he fell in love with a beautiful girl on a bicycle and decided to stay in Columbia with his soul mate. He married Carolyn Jane Cole on June 15, 1960. They were an extremely close couple; you rarely saw one without the other. She preceded him in death on July 13, 2021. Ed previously worked as a foreman for Monsanto Chemical Company and later owned Ed Jarrett Realty for approximately forty years. He enjoyed wood working and especially loved fishing. Ed served as a mason and was a member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by his son, Daniel (Molly Tate) Edward Jarrett, granddaughter, Hollie Cole Jarrett, grandson, William “Rooster” (Christy) Jarrett, brothers, Ernest, Robert, Charles and Jerry Jarrett, sisters, Georgia Love, Barbara Cagle, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings: Levon Jarrett, Harold Jarrett, Louise Smith, and infant, Ruth Imogene Jarrett.

Pallbearers will be William “Rooster” Jarrett, Jeremy Taft, Billy Grigsby, Monty Uptain, Tim Ramsey, and Chris Murphy. Honorary pallbearers will include Mary and Stan Coffman, Clint Uptain, and Arlanda “MO” Mozee.
