Imogene Smith of Columbia, Tennessee

October 2, 1932 - September 4, 2024

Sarah Imogene Whitworth Smith, 91, a native of Columbia, passed away on September 4, 2024.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, September 8th, 2024, from 1:00-5:00pm at Heritage Funeral Home in Columbia.

Imogene, born in 1932, was the daughter of the late Sarah Alice Gregg Whitworth and the late Wilburn Audie Whitworth. She was a lifetime member of Highland Church of Christ and loved her time in fellowship there.

Imogene was an avid architect and designer, always having a creative project or two in the works. She loved to read, and to sew, creating bespoke gifts, personalized specifically for the recipient. She spent many years working side by side with her beloved sister and partner in crime, Nita Strong and the crew at Maury Amusement Company. Above all, she loved to laugh.

She is preceded in death by her beloved, precious husband, Fred Lee Smith, siblings Nita Whitworth Strong, Bill Whitworth, and Pete Whitworth, and her only grandson, Keith Tanner Pack.

She leaves behind daughters Lori Lee Smith, and Cyndy (Chris) Pogue, Cyndy’s children - Khrystyna (Zach) Alberts, and Emma Pogue, many very beloved nieces (who were like daughters) and nephews, cousins and fur babies.
