Jack Jeffery Cates

Jack “Jeffery” Cates, age 51, resident of Columbia, TN, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 6, 2022, surrounded by his loving family in Centennial Hospital in Nashville, TN.

Jeff was born in Maury County and was the son of Jack Cates and the late Lorane Cates. He worked for A & F Properties doing maintenance. He was a family man who loved his parents, his sons, and adored his grandchildren. He always put his family and loved ones at the core of his priorities. He was very talented with his hands, building and creating things out of wood, or working on cars with his boys. He enjoyed fishing with his sons also and was an avid animal lover, especially of his cat.

He is survived by his father: Jack Cates, the love of his life for 27 years: Laura A. Holt of Columbia, TN, four sons; Jonathan (Ashley) Holt, Daniel (Madison) Holt, Austin Holt, Preston (Brianna) Holt all of Columbia, TN; five very special grandchildren: Hunter Holt, Chloe Holt, Holden Holt, Hayden Holt, Leah Holt, three sisters; Judy Dickey, Deborah(Billy)Tinsley, Patricia(Sonny) Anderson, many nieces and nephews and many more great nieces and nephews all of middle TN areas.

He is preceded in death by his mother Lorane Fralix Cates and grandfather Arley Fralix.

Honorary pallbearers are Cody Dugger, Josh Adkins, Dalton Adkins, Jacob Wyeth, and Nicholas Bobo.

His family would like to extend their gratitude to all the nurses and staff at Centennial Hospital for all their kindness and care.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2022, at 1:00 PM at Community Church, 507 Walnut Street, Mt. Pleasant, TN. Heritage Funeral Home assisting the family with arrangements.
