Rev. James Alexander Donaldson

Rev. James Alexander Donaldson, age 93, a resident of Columbia, passed away on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at Maury Regional Medical Center.

James was born on July 30, 1930, in Nashville, Tennessee and was the son of the late George Scruggs and the late Jessie Lee Donaldson.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of thirty-five years, Elizabeth Joyce Donaldson on June 23, 2022.

James served in the United States Army for seven years during the Korean War. He was an electrician and owner of ABC Electrical Contractors.

James was a member of Fuqua Missionary Baptist Church.

He is survived by his sister in law, Rachel J. Smith, brother in law, Brooks E (Mildred) Joyce, many nieces and nephews and a very devoted friend, Deacon Ollie Amos.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 1, 2024, at 12:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Rev. Carl McCullen officiating. Following the service, he will be laid to rest in Maury Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the United States Army. A visitation will also be held on Monday, from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
