James Mark Buchanan, age 73, resident of Lewisburg, passed away on Thursday, October 20, 2022, at Maury Regional Medical Center.
Jim was born February 21, 1949, in Shelbyville, Indiana to the late Ralph Edward Buchanan and the late Jacquelyn Rose Brown Buchanan. He attended college and met the love of his life there, Jo Ann Vallance and together they had three daughters. He worked installing cable and fiber for the Navy and Marine Reserves Stations. He enjoyed coaching lady’s softball. He also was a deacon at Palm View First Baptist Church in Florida and sang in the choir for over 20 years. He read and studied his Bible every night and his wife is most proud that he led her to the Lord. Jim was an amazing Sunday school teacher. Jim was a loving husband and father, always putting the need of others before himself, sacrificing himself to protect his wife and provide for her needs. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Along with his wife Jo Ann Buchanan of 53 years he is survived by his daughters, Alicia du Kor, Barbara Jo (Joe) Henry, and Crystal (Robert) Mullenix; brother, Duane (Mary Ann) Buchanan; grandchildren, Kristina (Chris) Hess, Dallas (Savannah) du Kor, Jamie (Will) Haley, Tessa (Cody) du Kor, Kristy Tice, Will Thomas, Kya Wilkes, Dixie Wilkes, Jalayna Henry, Keirstan Henry, Wyatt Henry, Bethany Mullenix, Becky (Josh) Ketelhut, and Bobby Mullenix; great grandchildren, Darren McCumber, Rain Hess, Josh Ketelhut, Kain Hess, Liam Thomas, Hope “Angel” du Kor, Ryan Ketelhut, Paisley du Kor, Jordyn Thomas, Kristopher “Major” du Kor, Mason (Marissa) Stilson, and two on the way; and great granddaughter, Harper Stilson.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Kristopher “Bubba” Tice; son in laws, Glenn F. Tice and Paul “Duke” du Kor, Jr.; grandparents, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
