James Cory Dooley, age 45, a lifelong resident of Columbia, Tennessee, passed away on Tuesday morning, July 16, 2024, at his residence.
A celebration of life ceremony will be held on Friday, July 19, 2024, at 6:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Keith Baker officiating. A visitation will also be held on Friday from 4:00 – 6:00 PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Born on June 1, 1979, in Columbia, Tennessee Jim was the beloved son of Jim Dooley and the late Colene Cates Dooley. He was a 1997 graduate of Columbia Central High School and a 2000 graduate of Marion Military Institute in Marion, Alabama where he participated in the ROTC program. A talented salesman for Crye Leike Real Estate, Jim loved working alongside his mother, Colene, for several years and was a Million Dollars Sales Leader in 2001 and 2002. He was previously involved in the Chamber of Commerce Youth and Adult Leadership Maury Programs. Jim was an automobile enthusiast, who had a passion for motorcycles and IndyCar Racing. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed shooting, firearms, and participated in many watersports, as well as repelling. In his youth, he was actively involved in Boy Scouts, earning the rank of Eagle Scout and served on the staff at Camp Boxwell Scout Reservation for several years.
He is survived by his father and step mother, Jim and Donna Dooley of Columbia, Tennessee, and step sisters, Jessica (Brad) Flippo of Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee, Meagan (Sean) Maynard of Lewisburg, Tennessee.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Gladys & Uriel Cates and Mary Dee & Horace I. Dooley.
