James Doil Humphrey, age 94, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2024, at home, surrounded by family.
Born on August 9, 1930, he was the oldest son of Festus and Ruth Humphrey of Dyess, Arkansas. He married Lequetta Joy Thorn in 1950. They had three children, Patricia McKee of Metamora, Alleshia Walker of Clarkston and Larry Humphrey of Goodyear, Arizona. He married Virgie Suedell Hill Derryberry in 1993. James was stepdad to Paula, Guy, Murray, Teresa, Alan and Darryl. He was preceded in death by siblings Claudine, Willa Mae, Ruth, Bobby Jean, Dorothy Sue, Audrey and two brothers, Carl and Tom. James is survived by brother Emmett Humphrey of Metamora. James was a loving grandfather to twenty-five grandchildren, thirty-nine great-grandchildren, twenty-nine great great grandchildren and one great great great grandchild.
Jim or Jimmy, as he was known by all those who knew and loved him, was a business owner and entrepreneur, his long life was a testament to his hard work ethic. Jimmy was highly respected and will be dearly missed. He was a member of the Orion-Oxford Masonic Lodge #46 and a Shriner.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers; Richard Walker, James McKee, Timothy Walker, Zachary Derryberry, Corey Derryberry, Wesley Derryberry, and Daniel Derryberry.
A visitation with the Family will be held at Heritage Funeral home on Friday, January 10, 2025, from 12:00 - 2:00, followed by a Masonic Funeral Service. Following the service interment will take place at the Santa Fe Cemetery.
