James "Jay" Daniel Connors

James "Jay" Daniel Connors Jr. of Charlotte, NC, passed away on February 25, 2025 in Spring Hill, TN.

Jay was born in Brooklyn, NY to James D. Connors and Ann F. Connors on May 1, 1938. He graduated from The United States Merchant Marine Academy on Long Island, NY. Following graduation, he served in the merchant marine for a few years aboard ships traveling the world. He married Shay LaPointe on July 10, 1987. Jay was an investment banker. He was a member of the John’s Island Club in Vero Beach, FL and the Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, NC. He served on the Vero Beach Hospital board.

Jay is preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Frances Gaylord, his parents, his brother Daniel Connors and his son Kevin Daniel Connors.

Jay is survived by his wife, Shay LaPointe Connors; his children and their spouses, Colleen Mary (Stash Sliva), Michael Patrick, Shannon Mary (Anthony Stewart Moore); his wife's children, Palmer Lowery Swofford, Adam James Lowery, Frank Joseph Lowery; his sister and her husband, Nancy and Joe Creevy; his grandchildren, Chelsea Gaboriault (Brent), Stasiu Sliva (Cindy), Brody Connors, Chase Connors, Joshua Moore, Christian Moore , Campbell Connor Swofford, Haden McHugh Swofford, Arabella Swofford; and his great-grandchildren, Dean, Janescka Jane Sliva, Anacan Mount Sliva.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, April 12, 2025 at Myers Park Presbyterian Church, 2501 Oxford Place Charlotte, NC. 28207 with a reception to follow.

Memorial contributions may be made to Myers Park Presbyterian Church in Charlotte, NC or Gentiva Hospice of Columbia, TN or The Sharon at SouthPark in Charlotte, NC.
