James "Jim" Kermit Mcguire

Mr. James “Jim” Kermit McGuire, age 81, a resident of Columbia, previously of Salyersville, Kentucky, passed away Monday, September 7, 2020 at Maury Regional Medical Center.

The family will celebrate his life with private services at a later date. Heritage Funeral Home in Columbia, Tennessee is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on April 18, 1939 in Salyersville, Kentucky, Jim was the son of the late Kermit McGuire and the late Winnie Powers. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He worked as a Millwright for many years and was a member of the Union in Louisville, Kentucky. He was a self taught musician who played the banjo and harmonica. A great sense of humor, he enjoyed telling jokes.

He is survived by his daughters: Edwina (Keith) Hoskins, Bridgett Miller, Jacqueline Traylor, Janie McGuire, sons: Neal (Victoria) McGuire, Shawn McGuire; eighteen grandchildren; and thirteen great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Matt McGuire; and grandson, Andrew Tyler McGuire.
