Jim was born August 25th, 1943 in Highland Park, MI and a 1962 graduate of Centreville High School. He served 5 years in the US Air Force from 1963 to 1968. While stationed in Udorn Thailand he met and married his best friend and love of his life, Sirinong Paripurana. He was a 32nd degree Master Mason with the Three River's Mount Herman Lodge no. 24. Jim graduated from Michigan State Police Academy in 1974. He worked for the St. Joseph County Sheriff Dept. in the K-9 unit, and retired from Centreville Police Dept. as Chief of Police in 1994. Jim moved to TN that same year. In TN, he was a gun range officer and firearms instructor at Nashville Match Masters Gun Club.
Jim is survived by his wife of 56 years Sirinong Riley of Columbia, TN. He also leaves his son Michael Riley (Sasiwimon Riley), granddaughter Skye Riley Williams (Anthony Williams), great grandson Theo, and his four-legged companion Blue Staffordshire Terrier, Sweet Pea. His parents Donald and Merle Riley and son Mark Riley precede Jim in death. Celebration of Life for Jim will be in TN and MI. Contact his son or granddaughter for details.
