James Smith of Columbia, Tennessee

December 22, 1948 - February 16, 2020

Mr. James Douglas Smith, age 71, a resident of Columbia, passed away Sunday evening, February 16, 2020 at Magnolia Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.

Born on December 22, 1948 in Maury County, James was the son of the late William Thomas Smith and the late Mary Alice Wade Smith. He worked his entire life in construction, agriculture and farming. He loved fishing and riding motorbikes.

He is survived by his significant other, Sheridan Gentry of Columbia; step daughter, Cristy Amos of Columbia; sisters: Janie Smith Clack of Spring Hill, Sharon (Bobby) Locke of Spring Hill; brothers: Rev. Harry (Dorothy) Smith of Gallatin, Larry (Alice) Smith of Spring Hill, Danny Smith of Columbia; grandchildren: Jasmine Shaw and Calvin Amos; and very special friends: John & Margaret McCord, Derrick & Charlotte McCord, Gina & William Crutcher, and Jason & Rachel McCord.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters: Rosetta Cleveland, Charlene Alderson; brother, Carl Thomas Smith; and brother in law, John Clack.
