James Grant Wood of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee

James Grant Wood, 82, resident of Lawrenceburg, TN and formerly of California, passed away Tuesday, August 3 at his home.

A private family service will be held at a later date. Heritage Funeral Home of Columbia, TN is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born May 29, 1939 in Costa Mesa, CA, he was the son of the late Harlan James and Hollis Irene Graves Wood and the husband of Rita Morgan Wood. James worked in sales for California State Automobile Association (CSAA) and was an Air Force Veteran of the Vietnam Era. He was a motorcycle enthusiast, drag and sports car racer, pilot and loved to go fast. He was good at everything he did.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Michele Wood of Vacaville, CA, Katharine (Jake) Six of Park City, UT and Cynthia Crook-Walker of Pelham, NC; sister: Harla Wood of Cypress, CA; stepchildren: Paul (Grace) Highfill of Thompson Station, TN and Cindy (Nick) Valade of Spring Hill, TN; 4 grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings: Leaza Lanene Wood and Jack Wood.

The family request memorials be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association.
