Janet "Tuttie" Carter

Janet “Tuttie” Carter, age 56, a resident of Columbia, passed away Monday, January 24, 2022, at Maury Regional Medical Center.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 27, 2022, at 4:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Rick Points officiating. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 26, 2022, from 4:00 – 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on January 3, 1966, in Pulaski, Tennessee, Janet was the daughter of the late James Wilson Dawes and the late Paula Ann Estes Dorton. A loving mother, sister, and Nanny, Janet loved the time spent with her family and especially loved her grandchildren. She also enjoyed riding around with her sister and hoping she got lucky on lottery scratch off tickets every week. She loved her long-time companion, Tim, and together they spent a wonderful twenty-five years. Janet will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her husband, Timothy “Tim” Carter of Columbia, sons, James (Brittany) Daws of Columbia, Brandon (Jade) Daws of Lincoln County, brother, James Dawes of Marshall County, sisters, Kristie Hadley of Columbia, Susan Cox of Columbia, grandchildren, Madison Daws, Preston Daws, Justice Daws, Alyssa Glass, Caylee Daws, Skylar Daws, Caden Daws, Brayden Daws, Jayden Daws, Maelee Daws, one great grandchild on the way, Alayah Brielle Marie Campbell, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Sheila Dawes.
