Jeanette Leigh Pontia, 60, of Spring Hill and Murfreesboro, TN, went home to the Lord on Saturday, November 30, 2019. She is a child of God, the daughter of Patricia Schuller Pontia and the late Raymond A. Pontia of Yorkville, OH, and the mother of Jenilee McNamara and Jillian McNamara of Murfreesboro, TN, and Juliette McNamara of Spring Hill, TN. She is the sister of Debra Norman (Steve) of St. Clairsville, OH; Raymark Pontia (Vivian) of Rayland, OH; and David Pontia (Dianne) of Columbus, OH. She is also an aunt (grand) to several nieces and nephews.

Jan was a part of a faith family of beloved people from Ohio, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Alabama, Florida, Texas, Arizona, and Tennessee. She most enjoyed her work within the Catholic Church of the Nativity serving the Lord as a lector, prayer warrior, and member of the Rosary group. Through the years, she also enjoyed being a Christ Renews His Parish retreat liturgist/sacristan, Eucharistic minister, and serving in the financial ministry and choir at her other home churches.

Jan enjoyed touching lives by being a teacher for Wheeling Park High School and an instructional technologist for Wheeling Jesuit University, Birmingham Southern College, Northwest Florida State College, and Middle Tennessee State University.

Jan will be remembered at a Funeral Mass presided over by Father Jerry Strange at the Catholic Church of the Nativity on Saturday, December 14, 2019 at 1:00 PM. The Mass will be preceded by rosary prayer starting at 12:30 PM. Inurnment will follow in the Resurrection Columbarium at Maury Memorial Gardens. Heritage Funeral home is in charge of arrangements.
