Jeannie Mae Benns

Jeannie Mae Benns, age 66, a longtime resident of Lewisburg, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, October 16, 2023, at Maury Regional Medical Center.

Jeannie was born on April 26, 1957, in Pontiac, Michigan, and was the beloved daughter of the late William Line and the late Bertha Helen Line. Over the course of her life, she worked in various roles, including employment at General Motors, Bi-Lo Grocery Store, and in a school cafeteria. Her pursuits outside of work included a love for reading, a fascination with crime shows, and a talent for solving all manner of puzzles. Those who knew her well can attest to her razor-sharp wit and the ready sarcasm that was always part of her charm. However, Jeannie's greatest affection was reserved for her two beloved cockatiel birds, Fred and Erma, whom she cherished.

Jeannie is survived by her daughters, Jeannette Benns of Lewisburg, TN, Linda Oxford of Belfast, TN, and Tracy Abeyta of Lewisburg, TN; her son, Joe Martin Benns of Bay City, MI; her brothers, William "Billy" Line and James “Jimmy” Line; her sister, Barbara Ward; her cherished grandchildren, Rebecca Eaton, Moira Wallace, Jada Wallace, Kayla Abeyta, Julian Abeyta, and Evan Kudwa; as well as her great-grandchildren, Trenton, Carter, Indie, Dakota, and Bradley.

In addition to her parents, Jeannie was preceded in death by her brother, Donald Line.
