Mr. James “Jim” John Kling, age 76, husband of Shawn Kling, and a resident of Columbia, passed away Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at Life Care Center.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at 3:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Deacon Ray Seibold officiating. A visitation will be held on Monday, May 17, 2021 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Born on December 25, 1944 in St. Joseph, Michigan, Jim was the son of the late Lyle Kling and the late Katherine Sila Kling. He was a skilled electrician and one of the first one hundred employees transferred to General Motors from Michigan. He was a member of the United Auto Workers Union. A true outdoorsman, Jim was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed bow hunting and fly fishing. He was a proficient woodworker and an excellent cook. Jim was of the Catholic faith.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons: Robert (Marcia) Kling of Shelby Township, Michigan, Brett Kling of Nashville, Tennessee; daughter, Jennifer Kling (David Tabb) Loveless of Columbia, Tennessee; sister, Mary Jane Ferris of St. Joseph, Michigan; and grandchildren: Emily Kling, Alex Kling, Andrew Kling, Mallory Loveless, Makenna Loveless, and McClaine Loveless.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Steve Kling and Bobby Kling.
