Joan Zingarell Nichols

Joan Zingarell Nichols, age 88, resident of Columbia, passed away Friday, December 18, 2020 at her residence.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 20 ^th at 2:00pm at Heritage Funeral Home with Gregg Gwin officiating.  The family will visit with friends on Sunday from 1:00pm until the 2:00pm service.  An inurnment will be at a later date in Maury Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.  Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Joan was born in Maury County and was the daughter of the late Joseph “Joe” McKenley Zingarell and the late Pearl Helen Southern Zingarell.  She graduated from Hay Long High School and attended Columbia Business College.  She was a member Collegevue Church of Christ.   She was a private sitter for many families for several years.  In her later years, she was secretary of Ted Houston Auto Sales.  She was a former owner and operator of the family business ZIngarell’s Market in Mt. Pleasant.

She is survived by her nephew, Michael Boshers of Nashville a great niece Kayla Boshers of FL.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Joseph “Joe” Michael Nichols and her sisters, Wanda Petway and Elizabeth Zingarell; and infant nephew, Mitchell Boshers; and special friends: Jack Crowell and Bobby Crowell.

Honorary pallbearers will be Byron Harrington, Adam and Sarah Crowell, Van Boshers, Randy Staggs, Mike Mabry, and members of Collegevue Church of Christ.

The family would like to express a special thanks to her caregivers Cindy Gwin and family and Adam and Sarah Crowell.  They also would like to thank Hospice Compassus.
