John Edward Turley departed this life for the next on July 23, 2021.
He was born at home in the mountains of Nitro, West Virginia on July 24, 1936, to Ammi Edward and Mary Lou Turley. He was a connoisseur and creator of adventures throughout his childhood years, following the heroics of Roy Rogers and The Lone Ranger.
As a man, his adventures in life lead him to serve in the United States Air Force, as a building contractor, a hairdresser, a truck driver, an entrepreneur, and a Lance cracker salesman among other pursuits. He was known as an avid conversationalist, a professional storyteller, and the life of the party.
He was lover of country music and country living. He was an early riser who would say he could wake up and roll right into a plate of fried eggs, bacon, and grits with a cup of coffee. His heroes were all cowboys, and many hours were spent with his family watching Westerns. He loved America and believed in standing up for freedom.
John is survived by his wife of 49 years, Sarah; five sons: Darren of California, Derek (Cori) of California, Jeff (Jessica) of Florida, Chris (Brittany) of Kentucky, and Brian (Lesa) of Georgia; four daughters: Tomiann of California, Marlo of Alabama, Danielle of Alabama, and Lianna (Cody) of Tennessee. He is also survived one brother Danny (Patty) of Arkansas and by 18 grandchildren and five great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, two brothers, and one son.
He will be celebrated with a graveside service at Freemon Cemetery in Leoma, TN.
In lieu of flowers, Mr. Turley requests that you vote Republican.
