Mr. John “Wayne” Tapp Sr., age 76 a resident of Spring Meade Boulevard in Columbia, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at Southern Hills Hospital.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 23 rd at 11AM at Heritage Funeral Home with Pastor Doug Colwell officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Promise in Maury Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the US Coast Guard. A visitation will be held on Monday from 4-7 PM at Heritage Funeral Home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Born on September 21, 1942 in Fayette, Tennessee, Wayne was the son of the late Luis Tapp and the late Mertle Wilson. He served proudly in the Coast Guard and was previously employed by Hansen Chrysler in Nashville. Wayne was married to Gatha Colwell for thirty years and together they had four children. He loved fishing, woodworking and playing jokes on people. Most of all Wayne loved spending time with his family.
In addition to his beloved wife Gatha he is survived by their children. Son,
Robert (Jennifer) Nolen of Clarksville; son, Randy Tapp of Murfreesboro; daughters: Monica Tapp of Columbia and Ann Richards of Nashville. Together they have twelve grandchildren and one great granddaughter.
Friends and family will serve as Pallbearers .
