Johnnie B. Scribner

Mr. Johnnie B. Scribner, age 80, a resident of Columbia, passed away Saturday, November 16, 2019 at his residence.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2019 at 1PM at Christian Faith Church with Pastor Michael Norwood officiating. Burial will follow in Campground Cemetery in Culleoka. His body will lie in state on Friday, November 22, 2019 from 12-4PM with a visitation from 4-6PM at Heritage Funeral Home. A visitation will also be held on Saturday from 12-1PM at the church. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on September 10, 1939 in Culleoka, Johnnie was the son of the late Joe Scribner and the late Ludie James Scribner. He was educated in the Maury County School System, attending Carver-Smith High School. He enjoyed watching Westerns and was devoted to his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

His is survived by his daughter, Dollie (Cordell) Shipp of Williamsport; step sons: William (Annette) Walker of Arizona, Frankie Walker of Columbia, Hubert Walker of Columbia, David Walker of Florida, Jerry Walker of Columbia, Billy Walker of Nashville; brother, William Scribner of Columbia; sister, Laura Scribner of Columbia; step siblings: Jim (Gladys) Scribner of Georgia, Maybelline Scribner of Columbia, Glenie Scribner of Columbia; grandchildren: Cordell Donta Shipp, Johnnie Bernard Shipp; great grandchildren: Kyriana, Taylor, Avery, Anquan, and Rory Shipp; twelve step grandchildren; nine step great grandchildren; and a host of step grandchildren, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sally Scribner; step son, Fred Walker; and siblings: Floyd Scribner, Jim Scribner, Lenzy Scribner, Mattie Scribner, Claudia Danielfield, and Minnie Allred.

Johnnie’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
