Mr. Johnny Levell Akins, age 64, a resident of Columbia, Tennessee, passed away Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at Maury Regional Medical Center.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at 10:00 AM at Heritage Funeral Home. Following the service, will be laid to rest in Maury Memorial Gardens. His body will lie in state on Friday, November 17, 2023, from 1:00 – 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on September 11, 1959, in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee, Johnny was the son of the late Albert Akins and the late Madeline Johnson Akins. He was educated in the Maury County Public School Systems and graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1977. He worked at Smelter for nearly twenty years and most recently for Ryder. He married Terrie Lynna Akins on May 1, 1992; she preceded him in death on February 6, 2019.

He is survived by his sons, Kevin (Scheneai Russell) Owens and Darrick Duke, brother, Alfonzia Akins, sisters, Mary Akins (Neal) Birdson, Audrey Gordon, Barbara Akins, grandchildren: Myisha Duke, Orlandus Green, LaMarcus Owens, Alvin Jones, LaQuintin Armstrong, Eric Green, Brittany Green, Abel Gray, Isaiah Gray, and Samaria Owens, several great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Along with his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Vera Jean Hill, Theresa Atwood, Emma Donald, Albert Akins, Carl Akins, Willie C. Akins, and Bernard Akins.
