Joseph Wiggins

August 6, 1939 — January 27, 2021

Joseph “Joe” Wiggins, age 81 a recent resident of Napa, California, formerly of Pulaski, Tennessee lost his battle with Alzheimer’s on January 27, 2021.

Due to inclement weather a funeral service will be held on Monday, February 22 at 2:00PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Pastor Debbie Eubanks officiating.  Burial will follow in Sunset Cemetery in Lewisburg with military honors provided by the United States Navy.  The family visit with friends on Monday from 12pm until service hour at the funeral home.  Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born in Emporium, Pennsylvania August 6, 1939, son of the late Donald and Elsie (West) Wiggins. Joe graduated from Kane Area High School in 1957. After graduating, he entered the US Navy and rose to the top of his rank, retiring in 1979 as a Master Chief Petty Officer. Joe went on to work for Fafnir Bearing, a division of Torrington Company as an electronic technician. While earning his Bachelor’s Degree in Electronic Engineering from Penn State in 1994, he retired from Torrington as an electronic engineer.

A self-taught guitarist, while serving in Vietnam, he played nightclubs for drinks and tips.  He also supplemented his income by ironing uniforms and shining shoes for his ship mates. An avid recreationalist, he enjoyed bowling, golf, square dance, fishing, boating, RV-ing, model railroads and all things train.  He was a die-hard Penn State Fan. He instilled a love for music in all his family!

He is survived by his very close personal friend, Virginia Fry, his two sisters, Jane Abram of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, Margaret “Mags” (Mick) Miller of Charlotte, North Carolina, stepdaughter, Marcy (Jim) Cochran, of Friendsville, TN, Children, Deanna (Ben) Neuman of Napa, CA, Laurie Tumey of Canton, GA, Traci (Joe) Breit of Napa, CA, and Robert (Bobby) Wiggins of Jasper, GA. Seven grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was pre-deceased by his wife Mary (Endsley) Wiggins in 2012.

He will also be remembered by his church family at Chestnut Grove United Methodist Church in Pulaski, Tennessee.

The family of Mr. Wiggins would like to thank Napa Valley Senior Living for the care and love they showed their dad during these unprecedented pandemic circumstances.
