Joyce "Tootsie" Scroggins

Joyce Fay Scroggins, age 80, a resident of Columbia, passed away Monday, March 1, 2021 at her residence.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at 1:00 P.M at Heritage Funeral Home with Doyle Parham officiating. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 11 am until service time.  Burial will follow at Santa Fe Cemetery. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on May 20, 1940 in Maury County, Joyce was the daughter of the late Edward “ED” Givens and the late Christine Kelley Givens and she was the wife of Jerry Scroggins for 42 years. She was born and raised in the Hilltown Community in Santa Fe and attended Santa Fe High School.  She worked many years at Storktown Manufacturing. Joyce was an amazing housewife and mother as well as a member of the Pentecostal Church of Christ of Columbia. She enjoyed gardening and going to yard sales. Joyce loved going back to Santa Fe visiting friends and family and had a love for flowers and enjoyed going to Tunica.

She is survived by her husband: Jerry Thomas Scroggins of Columbia, Sons; Johnny “Tammy” Mitchell, Bubba “Sandra” Mitchell, Sam Scroggins, and Burrhead Scroggins all of Columbia. grandchildren: William Mitchell, Randy “Hannah” Mitchell, JT Mitchell, Shane Mitchell, and Casey Scroggins, McKenzie “Kenneth Martin” Mitchell, Meagan “Brad” Miller, Morgan Mitchell “Quin Bullock”, Casey Mitchell “Mike Simpson”, Sasha “Derek” Dollar, Paige Scroggins, Haley Scroggins and 18 great-grand children  .

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, James “TUG” Givens; and one sister Judy Rogers.

Pallbearers will be: Johnny Mitchell, Bubba Mitchell, JT Mitchell, Kenneth Martin, William Mitchell and Willie Kindred.

The family would like to thank the staff of Caris Hospice for caring for Joyce during this time.
