Katherine Sue Johnson Scott, age 75, a resident of Columbia, passed away Wednesday, August 2, 2023, at Maury Regional Medical Center.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 4, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Heritage Funeral Home with Bro. Mike Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. A visitation will also be held on Friday, from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Born on January 24, 1948, in Wilder, Tennessee, Katherine was the daughter of the late Chester Johnson and the late Carrie Gennette Thompson Johnson. Besides her work as a homemaker, she previously worked as a seamstress in a factory. She loved flowers and enjoyed going to yard sales. She loved going to church and was a member of Parkway Baptist Church. She adored her family, especially her grandchildren, and loved her special friends, Sandra Goetz and Wanda Smith. She was married to her beloved husband, James Novell “Fuzzy” Scott for thirty years before his passing on March 28, 2022.
She is survived by her daughter, Geneva Shelton of New Mexico, brothers, Ronnie (E.T.) Johnson of Tennessee, Mitchell (Kitty) Johnson of Tennessee, sister, Anna Lois Murphy of Tennessee, and grandchildren, Taylor Hollins, Monica Hollins, Harlon Hollins, Ashley Sutton, Christopher Shelton, and Angel Sutton.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Christopher Wayne Shelton, daughter, Diane Johnson Davis, and brother, B.J. Johnson.
Pallbearers will be Justin Goetz, Danny Gibson, Clay Pruitt, David Stanfill, Arnold Francis, and Ricky Patton.
Honorary pallbearers will include, Hospice Compassus employees: Cindy Brooks and Chrystal Williams, Dr. Miranda Woods, Dr. Freels, and Dr. Brandie Gorrell, Members of Parkway Baptist Church, and the Maury Regional Medical Center Second Floor nursing staff.
