Kathleen Potts Mitchell

Kathleen Potts Mitchell, age 88, a resident of the Hilltown Community in Santa Fe, passed away Thursday, July 20, 2023, at Maury Regional Medical Center.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 24, 2023, at 1:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Brian Adkisson and Ronnie Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Potts Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Sunday, July 23, 2023, from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

A native of Maury County, Kathleen was born on January 8, 1935, and was the daughter of the late Calvin Potts, Sr., and the late Josie Byrd Potts. She worked twenty years at Publix before deciding to become a hairdresser. She had her beauty shop in the basement of her home and did hair up until the age of 80. Kathleen was a member of Elmore Church of the Nazarene and was devoted to her church and church family. She loved reading her Bible and always had a meal to serve when someone visited her home. Above all, she loved her family unconditionally, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her son, Darvin Mitchell of Santa Fe, daughter in law, Teresa Mitchell (James) Black of Santa Fe, brother, Charlie Potts of Santa Fe, sisters, Ester (Wayne) Kinney of Santa Fe, Earline P. Morrow of Santa Fe, Carolyn J. Potts of Columbia, sister in law, Joyce Smith of Tullahoma, grandchildren, Christy (Johnny) Cates of Santa Fe, Evan (Erica) Mitchell of Huntsville, AL, Ashlyn Mitchell of Santa Fe, great grandchildren, Kelsey Cates, Aubrey Mitchell, and one on the way, Aiden Mitchell, and several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Raymond Mitchell, son, Tommy Ray Mitchell, brothers, Robert Potts, Calvin Potts, Jr., R.B. Potts, Frank Thomas Potts, and sisters, Ruth P. Smith, Marie Matlock Goodson, and Audrey Slaughter.

Pallbearers will be Ronnie Blackburn, Phil Stanfill, James Black, David Chunn, Brandon Jones, Randy Matlock, and Shane Potts. Honorary pallbearers will include the members of Elmore Church of the Nazarene.
