Mr. Larry Ned Thompson, age 71, husband of Betty Thompson, and a resident of Columbia, passed away Friday, October 15, 2021, at Maury Regional Medical Center.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 23, 2021, at 12:00 PM at Trinity Family Church, 2628 Leah Circle, Columbia, Tennessee, with Don Richie officiating. Burial will follow in Maury Memorial Gardens. A visitation will also be held on Saturday from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM at the church. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on February 24, 1950, in Stanton, Tennessee, Larry was the son of the late Eugene Thompson, Sr., and the late Lena Peterson Thompson. He was a 1968 graduate of Carver High School in Brownsville, Tennessee and attended Tennessee State University. Larry worked over twenty years for the Ford Glass Plant. He was previously an ordained minister at Trinity Family Church where he was a member. You could often find him detailing his vehicles, and he especially loved enjoying a good meal with his family. Larry also enjoyed reading and watching old westerns.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Thompson of Columbia, daughters, LaSonya Thompson of Franklin, TN, Sherronda Thompson of Cleveland, TN, Yolanda Thomspon of Boston, MA, LaTosha Thompson of Spring Hill, TN, step children, Natasha Nicholson of Columbia, TN, Brian (Tiffany) Todd of Decatur, IL, sisters, Edna Thompson of Stanton, TN, Margaret Thompson of Memphis, TN, Flozell (Grover) Harwell of Stanton, TN, grandchildren, Andrew Thompson, Somber “Ovy” (Kaylie) Thompson, step grandchild, Brendon Tanner, great grandchildren, Katalina Thompson, Greyson Davis, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Eugene Thompson, Jr., Elliot Thompson, and Michael Thompson.

Pallbearers will be Truonic Thompson, Grover Harwell Jr., Walter Brown, and Nathaniel Thompson.
