Layton Seba Oliver, age 75, a resident of Columbia, Tennessee passed away on Saturday, December 23, 2023, at his residence. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2024, with Rick Points officiating, at Mapleview Cemetery, 411 Maple Street, Smyrna, Tennessee. Military honors will be provided by the United States Army. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Layton was born on February 22, 1948; Layton’s journey began in the community of East Nashville. His early years were marked by a profound commitment to serve our country in the United States Army. After his military service, Layton continued his dedication with a career in nursing. He became an ICU pulmonary nurse at the VA Hospital in Murfreesboro.
Layton fought a courageous battle with lymphoma cancer in the early 1990’s. He had a deep love for music, whether strumming the strings of his guitar or exploring other musical avenues. He was a loyal and enthusiastic Tennessee Titans fan. Among the many treasures in Layton's life was his cherished companion of his cat, Charlie.
Layton leaves behind his devoted mother, Elsie White Harris; sister, Janice (Milton) Oliver-Hay; brother, Robert B. (Sandra) Harris, Jr.; three children, Forrest Dawn, Autumn Renee, and Layton Brian Oliver; and his beloved cat, Charlie.
In addition to his father, Layton P. Oliver, Jr., he was preceded in death by brothers, Thomas Howard Oliver and Jack Douglas Oliver, and stepfather, Robert B. Harris, Sr.
