Lester Ray Hensley, age 75, a resident of Culleoka, passed away Friday morning, April 21, 2023, at NHC Columbia.
A visitation will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church on Friday, April 28, 2023, from 2:00 – 4:00 PM. A Masonic Service will begin at 4:00 PM with the memorial service immediately following, with Rev. Jeff Kane officiating. The inurnment will follow at Cross Bridges Cemetery. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Born on July 31, 1947, in Indianapolis, Indiana, Lester Ray was the son of the late General Lester Hensley and the late Sarah Margaret Jenkins Hensley Clark. He began his career working for the TVA and was proud to be one of the first Civil Defense in Maury County. He worked over twenty years as a heavy equipment operator for Industrial Contractors. He later worked for Tomlin Construction before retiring in 2010. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Operating Engineers Local 369 in Nashville and a member of the Pleasant Grove Masonic Lodge #138. He was a member of Cross Bridges Baptist Church.
He was a jack of all trades, and master of EVERYTHING. An extremely intelligent man, Lester Ray could invent, build, and fix anything. He will be remembered by many as a dedicated softball coach for many years. He was a true outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, barbecuing, cooking, and canning. He was a good man and true friend to many.
He is survived by his children, Sandra Hensley of Culleoka, Cindy (Anthony) Sims of Culleoka, Daniel (Bethany) Hensley of Culleoka, grandchildren, Kasi Sims, Lauryn Kinser, Logan Sims, Knox Kinser, Sara Sims, Katie Sims, and Raylee Hensley, and special friend, Jannie Hensley Hartsfield.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy Hensley, daughter, Susan Rae Kinser, and grandson, Kye Embler.
Honorary pallbearers will include friends and caregivers.
