Lucille Anglin Potts

Lucille Anglin Potts, age 98, a long-time resident of Columbia, passed away Thursday, January 23, 2020 at NHC Healthcare Columbia.

A funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at 11AM at Heritage Funeral Home with long-time friend Mr. Gene Griffin of Old Hickory and Mr. Keith Baker officiating. Burial will follow in Santa Fe Cemetery. The family will also receive friends on Tuesday from 10-11AM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

A Maury County native, Lucille was born on May 30, 1921 in Santa Fe. She was on of eleven children of the late Love Webb Anglin and the late Addie Kelley Anglin. She was preceded in death by her husband Lester Thomas Potts on November 17, 1967.

Mrs. Potts became interested in art and devoted much of her early life painting with various groups of local female artists in Maury County. She took art courses at Columbia State Community College and further studied under John Kiser with the University of Tennessee. An avid oil painter of still life and watercolors she became known locally for her art talents and enjoyed painting for friends and family. She was an early member of the Maury County Arts Guild. At the age of 68 she became interested in piano and studied under Mrs. Almer Hebreks for seven years. She loved gardening and canning each summer with her long-time friend Kenneth Love. She was an active member for many years at West Seventh Street Church of Christ and Graymere Church of Christ. Some of her fondest memories while attending Graymere was being accompanied by her oldest sister and best friend, Willie Mai Lemay Harper who peacefully passed in 2009.

Survivors include one daughter, Rochelle (Bruce) A. Tittel of Cincinnati, Ohio, two sons Johnny (Brenda) Potts of Mt. Juliet, TN and Sanford (Myra) Potts of Columbia, six grandchildren Sherrie, Mike, and Mark Tittel of Cincinnati, Ohio, Lindley Potts of Nashville, Jonathan Potts of Murfreesboro, Gina Potts of Columbia, two great grandchildren, and one sister Carol Ballard of Summertown, TN. Seven brothers and two sisters and one infant grandson preceded her in death.

Active pallbearers will be: Jonathan Potts, Brent Lemay, Marshall Potts, Larry Jones, Brian Harris, Ashely Brown, and Bootie Maxwell. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Graymere Church of Christ.

The family requests memorials be made to the Maury County Arts Guild, 705 Lion Parkway, Columbia, TN 38401, Santa Fe Cemetery Fund, and Graymere Church of Christ Building Fund, 1316 Trotwood Avenue, Columbia, TN 38401.
