Luther Ray Stanfill

December 11, 1952 — October 19, 2023

Mr. Luther Ray Stanfill age 70, husband of Cheryl Stanfill, and previous resident of Culleoka, passed away October 19, 2023 in Yakima, Washington after a courageous bout with Cancer.

A native of Santa Fe, Ray was born December 11, 1952 and was the son of the late Joe Leland Stanfill Sr. and Jessie Christina Hill Stanfill.

Ray proudly served his country for 22 years in the US Navy. He served in the Vietnam War, Desert Shield and Desert Storm. Ray retired as a Petty Officer First Class, and after retirement he went to work in the shipyards in Jacksonville, Fl.

Ray and his family moved home to Tennessee and he was the proud caretaker of the Fitzpatrick Home in Mooresville, Tennessee.

In 2020, Ray and Cheryl moved to Washington to be closer to their kids and grandkids. Dad's present was so big! He could always put a smile on your face, even when times were tough until the end.

Dad was stubborn, loving and always funny, telling all that would listen about the Dread Mahoagie (If you know him, you know). Our Daddy was the strongest man we knew. He loved his family, hunting, fishing, and listening to wildlife.

Ray is survived by his wife of 48 years Cheryl and 3 daughters; Melissa, Misty and Mendy; 4 grandchildren, Savannah, Isabelle, Waylan and Gabey (in heaven), and several Nieces and Nephews.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters; Maggie Shouse, Charlotte McCoy, Addie Crotts, brothers; Joe Leland Stanfill Jr., Wayne Stanfill, Winford Stanfill, Hobert Stanfill and Donald Stanfill.

Please send condolences and stories in Lou of flowers to 7610 West Nob Hill Boulevard unit number 67, Yakima, Washington 98908.
